How to Stop Windows 11 From Automatically connecting to a Wi-Fi

Windows 11 includes features that allow you to automatically connect to a WiFi network. If necessary, you can disable this behaviour so that your Windows does not automatically connect to certain WiFi networks. In this gearupwindows article, we will walk you through the entire process of preventing Windows 11 from automatically connecting to a previously connected WiFi network.

When you configure a WiFi network to not connect automatically, Windows will remember your WiFi password but will not connect automatically when your computer is in range. Only when you manually connect your PC to that WiFi network will it be connected. If you’ve previously connected to a public WiFi network but don’t want it to reconnect automatically the next time you’re in range, use this feature.

How to Disable Automatic Connection to Wi-Fi in Windows 11 using Settings App?

The procedure described above is effective, but if you are not in range of a specific network, you will not be able to see it on the WiFi connection panel in the Quick Settings menu. As a result, you’ll need to use the Settings app to change the connection actions.

Step 1. First pressing Windows + I keys from the keyboard.

Step 2: Select Network & internet from the left pane when Windows Settings appears. On the right-side pane, click the Wi-Fi.

Step 3: Click On the Wi-Fi settings pane, select Manage known networks.

Step 4. After that, click on Manage known networks.

Step 5. Here, you’ll see all the Wi-Fi networks you’ve connected to in the past. Find the Wi-Fi network and click on that you don’t want to join automatically.

Step 6. Finally, uncheck the box beside Connect automatically when in range.

If you don’t have any more tasks to complete, you can exit the Settings app. Changes will be saved automatically. When that Wi-Fi network comes back into range, it will not connect right away. If you prefer, you can manually link them.

That’s all. These were the two methods for stopping Windows 11 from automatically connecting to a Wi-Fi network.

  2. I have remove all possible option you mention above, no auto connect to wifi on Windows 11. When you disconnect wifi, wait 5 seconds, it will auto connect back. As long as you still have password save on the wifi, it will auto connect no matter how you remove or disable auto connect. It will only NOT connect if you FORGET the network.
